Spot Fishing Grounds: From a few yards from the dock to
uninterrupted miles up or down river, fish the favourites or discover
new ones! FISH FOR: tackle busting Northern Pike, the odd Musky, Walleye (delicious mouth watering pickerel fillets), jumbo Yellow Perch and Bass. Area lakes and streams have good fishing for Bass (large and small mouth), Native Brookies and Lake Trout. BEST FISHING: Walleye & Pike: May thru to July, fishing a river with consistent temperatures and currents provides good fishing for Walleye, Pike, Bass & Perch from opening day in May through August . . . and then it just gets better! |

The sand beach, central to cottages and campground area, offers relaxation and swimming. |

| About the Mighty Upper Ottawa: It begins at a time not long after the last ice age, when early aboriginal people navigated the river by canoe. The River has an average width from a third of a mile to one mile, with a water current of 4-5 miles per hour. It winds through spectacular scenery and the landforms along the river's edge are essentially the same as what the early explorers would have witnessed. It features many small islands and great shoals that fish gather on and around! The Ottawa is very deep, offers safe boating and is hydrograph charted and marked with buoys (Chart #1554 available at the lodge). |
| Houseboat Adventures: Stop...relax...unwind. Boaters can nose into sheltered coves for a shore lunch and a swim (secluded beaches are secrets of some of the small islands), then anchor out overnight for a truly peaceful night's sleep. Boaters with a sharp eye may still see the remains of buildings and campfire spots from the time of the fur trade. Take along a smaller boat (special rental rates available) to go ashore and pitch a tent, do some back-bay exploring and fishing. "Spend a day on the Ottawa and it will give you memories for a lifetime!" |

| Shopping and Services: Mattawa, 22 miles (40 km) from the lodge, offers an excellent variety of shopping, banking and full hospital services. If you golf, there is the Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort, a very good 9-hole course with super greens. |
| Uncrowded Beauty and Quiet: You can dock in Mattawa, which offers dining, museums, entertainment or just a walk around in the friendly North town. Or to the East, stop at Stonecliffe and enjoy a little refreshment and a generous and delicious home cooked meal in the cool and quiet of "The Cliffe" Diner & Lounge, or go souvenir shopping at Yates General Store. |
| Four Season's Adventure: nature trails, birdwatching, skiing (both downhill and cross-country), great fishing and hunting, and most of all relaxation in the out-of-doors. |

| ATV or Mountain Bike: Abandoned logging roads and trails are favourite haunts of ruffled grouse and woodcock. Winding through timber cuts and growth forests, these trails give access to lakes, streams, marshes and beaver ponds. |
| Winter Snowmobile Tours: The Ontario Federation of Snowmobiler's T.O.P. and Round Algonquin Park (R.A.P.) trail passes within 200 meters or (200 yards) of the lodge! |
| Want to Arrive by Plane? Guests land float planes at the lodge on a regular basis. Also available is a van shuttle service to either North Bay or Pembroke Airport. |
